2. Webinar #2: Tax Deadline Moved To July 15 What Traders Should Do Next
The Treasury Department moved the April 15 tax deadline to July 15, 2020, thereby postponing tax filings and tax payments for all taxpayers. Congress has pending legislation that provides for further tax relief, and traders eligible for trader tax status (TTS) may be able to benefit. For example, the CARES Act unwinds many TCJA loss limitations for 2018, 2019, and 2020, including reauthorizing 5-year NOL carrybacks. TTS traders with Section 475 ordinary losses can benefit. Join CPAs Robert A. Green and Darren Neuschwander of GreenTraderTax.com to learn about these developments and how you should proceed with your 2019 tax filings and 2020 tax elections.

S&P 500 Index option-based volatility indexes have untenable risk-return profiles. These volatility indexes are not designed with consideration of important real-world risk characteristics of options and fail to represent volatility as a differentiated asset-class with relevance to the long-term utility of investors. Implications of the S&P 500 Index return distribution on the profit and loss (P&L) distribution of a directionally hedged option position are presented. The ensuing five cardinal characteristics of options on S&P 500 Index, central to designing viable volatility investment strategies, are enumerated.
